CyrusOne Construction Intern - Chandler in Phoenix, Arizona

CyrusOne is looking for Interns to join our talented team of business professionals this summer at our offices in Sterling, Virginia and Chandler, Arizona. Our Internship Program provides an invaluable hands-on experience for those who want to work alongside a team that values results, enjoyment (really – we love to work hard, play hard) and learning. Forget about coffee runs – our Interns learn the ins and outs of their area of specialization and enjoy representing the company in challenging enterprise-wide projects and meaningful assignments to gain the knowledge, experience and training you will need to determine if your career choice is the right fit for you.

We provide Interns with the opportunity to learn and develop new skills while gaining a deeper understanding of concepts through immersive application. Working closely with their advisor, Interns explore their career field of interest, acquire new skills, and develop transferrable skills.

Each Intern reports to a CyrusOne leader who provides hands-on training, oversight, and mentorship.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with current projects, deadlines, scheduling and priorities during the Internship

  • Complete an Intern rotation to understand the roles/positions of the department

  • Interact with Construction and Design professionals to build an in-depth understanding of real-world construction methods and challenges

  • Gain familiarity with typical construction tasks, including construction services procurement, contract award and buy-out, and the creation of RFI’s, AIA industry-standard documents, and contract documents

  • Understand the contributions and responsibilities of the Development and Investments teams throughout the life of a project

  • Accomplish daily operations of construction with the Design and Construction Team

  • Support Construction Team in the field through assistance, coordination and distribution of information required to construct the project on time, within budget and to quality standard

  • Coordinate and inspect contractor work across a variety of new projects with the goal of ensuring they meet established schedule, budgetary, and quality agreements

  • Participate in and occasionally lead construction meetings, track change order requests and problem issues, and prepare and distribute project status reports

  • Contribute feedback aimed at improving the operational success of the projects, including improved safety, cost control, and environmental effectiveness

  • Assist with obtaining information and approvals for processing shop drawings and submittals

  • Assist in the Design and Construction portions of a project under supervision of an experienced professional

  • Disseminate Construction information to appropriate parties

  • Assist in the preparation of contract items list

  • Prepare Design and Construction related calculations to support drawings and visual aids

  • Assist with data collection, input, verification, and manipulation

  • Support Construction of facilities and infrastructure, project controls, procurement and document management

  • Assist on projects involving Design and Construction systems and applications (as appropriate depending on major)

  • Utilize your knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures to complete your assigned tasks in a team environment

  • Lead your own projects, as assigned, and present your results to the team

Length of Internship: The Internship will start in June 3rd and wrap up on August 9th. The length of the Internship will depend largely on college/university academic year calendars or graduation status.

Who’s Eligible:

  • Construction/Building Science, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering or Architecture and Design major, in Junior/Senior year of Undergraduate and/or Graduate student currently attending a college or university, preferred
